It’s been a while we’ve had some powkiddy news to share, and after the half-baked effort with the rgb20sxwe wondered if they had decided to go back to the drawing board for a bit of a network.
New images of the rgb50, the successor to the rgb30 that we rEffeiewed Back in 2023 have a surface with some new specs, and it looks like powkiddy have taken a leaf out of retroid’s book by creating a device that looks not too dissimilar to the Pocket 4 Pro.
These Early Images (Thanks to Our Friend @retrohandheldCollection For the heads up) show multiple different color variants and a more rounded design to the RGB50 that looks more comfortable to hold.
Specs are sparrse at the minute, but we do know that it comes with a 4.5 “3: 2 display and runs both android and linux os, as well as being wifi compatible.
While the chipset hasn’t been verified yet, the general consensus is that it’s not a humongous cpu upgrade but one that will definitely be appreciated by users going forward.
This means it will likely emulate everything up to and including PSP. Which I know, feels like we’re talking about a handheld being releasing in 2019 but hey, I know there’s something bigkiddy fans out there that will appreciate this.
Anbernic and goretroid are focusing on the less affordable devices so perhaps powkiddy are continuing to stick to their lane with affordable, lower quality devices that intrigue new customers and alixpress lurkers.
That’s all I have for now – more information to follow when it’s official announced.
